Health: No More Dr. Jarvick Ads Promoting Lipitor

No more Dr. Jarvick pushing Lipitor, a cholesterol lowering drug, for Pfizer. It turns out that the ads were allegedly misleading and has raised questions with Congress on Dr. Jarvick’s qualifications. Jarvick is a scientist and not a medical doctor and the ads in my opinion didn’t do much to differentiate or make that fact clear in their commercials. No matter. Lipitor is still the #1 selling prescription for cholesterol. I’m sure Pfizer’s suspension of the 139 million dollar advertising campaign will not hurt sales at all.

After your last post on the Lipitor ads, I notice that they were edited to remove his mention of being a doctor, just showing him in a lab. Completely gone now?

Yep, completely gone. It was a voluntary move by Pfizer to do that.
