JK Rowling Drops Hints of Possible Sequel for Potter Fans

British novelist, JK Rowling ended her Harry Potter series…or did she? In her interview with Time magazine, she hinted that there might be a 8th Potter book but Harry wouldn’t be the central character. After 7 books, the author has her moments of “weakness” after having said good-bye to her characters. Rowling’s 14 year old daughter has been adding her voice to the legion of fans clamoring for another Potter book. Alas, harry-potter-books.jpgRowling said that it would be 10 years down the road before she’d consider a sequel in the Potter universe. I’ve read only one book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which remains my favorite to this day, having never read the books after it (but I plan to read them). I’ve enjoyed the films with the last one, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix being the weakest film in the series for me. Rowling is an excellent writer with a authorial voice that I enjoy very much. She is currently working on a political fairy tale for young adults and an adult novel. Maybe one of those books might blossom into another successful series? Only the future and JK Rowling will tell.

I saw the interview – when she was asked the question, there was a very very long pause before she answered “No!”. I think she would be tempted – not for the money, but just because. I think it wouldn’t be needed though, because Harry’s story is over and done with. Maybe with completely different characters in the same world…

Left out ” … just because it’s been such a large part of her life” in the post above!

It’s completely understandable to want to revist these characters since it was a huge part of her life. Who would be left to write about in the Potter universe? I’m looking forward to her next endeavor.
