Real Life Superhero

Alas, no book reviews today. How about reading the story of a real life superhero? This story is truly inspiring.

Wesley Autrey has been making the news lately. What did he do? Oh, nothing. Out of 80 or so people standing around, waiting on the subway in New York, he just threw himself in harm’s way to save another person’s life. Even with being with faced with injury or death.  He’s a father of three and this man decided at the spur of the moment, to save another human life. How awesome is that? I love reading stories like this. Donald Trump has given him $10,000 and he was also awarded the highest medal of honor for civilians by Mayor Bloomberg. Alas, Mr. Autrey has been making the media rounds and it’s been said that David Letterman wants to interview him. What a truly heroic thing to do. Mr. Autrey deserves all of his 15 minutes of fame. He is truly a superhero.  You just don’t hear about stories like this everyday.

Have a great weekend!

I saw him on David Letterman last night. He was very unassuming and told what happened in a very ordinary way. I had heard about him earlier in the day. Also, before he jumped down to help the guy he made sure someone was watching his little girls. It’s heartening to know there are people out there that would put their life on the line for a stranger and a fellow human being. What an amazing act of kindness.

Okay, this may sound silly but, when I heard his story on the news, I nearly teared up! The man sounds like a really great guy, the way he said that he felt every human life deserved to be saved. And the father of the guy he saved was so emotional as he said his thanks! He really deserves all the money and attention. What a wonderful story. It reminds me that there really are still kind-hearted people out there in the world.

He reminded me that there are indeed angels out there looking out for us all. I was truly inspired by his story. What a wonderful human being. He also reminded us that our troops do this everyday as well.

Isn’t he amazing!! God bless him. Friday 2 men caught a little boy that fell from a 4th floor fire escape, also in NYC.
